Life is but a blank canvas

Life is but a blank canvas
On that one could create an invisible line by leaving the trace of her movement behind.
A movement which begins by birth and ends by death
A movement which could be both physical and mental

The movements begin in mind before they are translated into our physic, hence translation of the invisible lines of the movements of the thoughts (IL MOVEMENTS of the thoughts) into invisible lines of movement of our body (IL MOVEMENTS of our body).

These invisible lines of movement are then memorised on the canvas of the mind, or through some means of technology which either memorise the movements as they happen; e.g. camera, or memorise the trace of these movements which are marked by; e.g. pen and paper.

Ernest Holms says: “As we watch the process of thought we find that we think consciously, and we also find that something happens to our thoughts after we have thought them; for instance, they become memory. This proves that we have a deeper aspect of mind, which is called subjective, lying just below the threshold of conscious. This subjective mind is the place where our thoughts go and form whence they eventually return to us again s memory. Observation proves this to be true; for it always happens this way. Observation has proven that the subjective mind is the seat of memory and that is contains mental pictures, of impressions, of all that has ever happened to the individual. As these mental impressions come to the surface of the conscious mind they are called memories.” (Holmes, Ernest, 2010, The Science of Mind, USA, Wilder Publications, P35)

The IL of memories which are saved on our mind could be in form of:
- form of language; which could operate as a series of actual pectoral images of an event/phenomenon, or a series of metaphoric signs and symbols representing those phenomena. The latter is called words/texts
- feelings -e.g. warmth, fear
- sound
- taste
- smell

I am – proving oneself to oneself and the environment which includes others
As human we not only use the language to memories events and feeling but to convey them to others. This way we respond to our natural drive which is to prove our being and our existence to ourselves, and to the environment which includes other beings.

According to Ernest Holms the greatest discovery that man made was that he could think. “This was the day when he rose from ground and said –I am-…” (Holmes, Ernest, 2010, The Science of Mind, USA, Wilder Publications, P26).

Hence the journey of my mind or my individual IL of thoughts begins from the moment I made the biggest discovery of my life; “I am”. As René Descartes says: “I think, therefore I am”. (September 2012 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_think_therefore_I_am ) I communicate and relate to myself and to my environment, therefore I am. Through my relationship with my-self, the environment/others I begin to form my identity. Hence one could say: “I am because you are”; “ubuntu” the essence of African mystic. (September 2012  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODQ4WiDsEBQ )
-----------------------

IDENTITY
Through the use of language we relate to our-self, to the environment and to others. Through this relation we form our identity.
Therefore my identity is:
1. The pattern of the dimensions of the centre of the gravity of my physical being within the environment and in relation with others.
2. The pattern of the past memory of IL of the movement of the centre of the gravity of mine within environment together with the memories of IL of the movements which are created by of my the changes of my dimensions in relation to the others’ dimesions, both physically and mentally.
3. The IL of the pattern of my future memory. The future memory is a term which I have invented to use here, meaning; the pattern of IL of the movement of thoughts which takes us into future plans and wishes, hence invisible lines of future memories or IL of the future memories.

----------------------------------

From the moment our life begins in our mother’s womb, or even before that the creation of this line begins. This invisible line represents the memory of our journey from conception to the grave. The line of this journey soon is developed into a complex combination of lines which present a variety of type of journey of different nature.

The question is whether IL of movement takes form prior to IL of thoughts or the other way round? This question is like the dilemma of chicken and egg. However, we need to break this cycle somewhere. I start it from the first journey which the sperm which carried the DNA of my father into my mother’s womb. A journey which although created an IL of movement nevertheless was caused by an IL of thought or in this case perhaps a natural program or built in intelligence.

------------------------------------

I have learned too late that;
That there was no meaning to life
I have wasted my life spending time to look for something which was not there.
Now I learn that “ the meaning of life is to give life a meaning, (Renee Pasarow, September 2012  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpmPYm4c2ko ) and not to look for a meaning in it, cause there is no meaning there, and one cannot find something which is not there in the first place.

Hence I have a choice whether to give my life a meaning or not, a meaning which only I can give to my life not anyone else. I have a choice to give my life a meaning of my desire or leave it to others or the fate. Doris Day - Que Sera Sera  (September 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZbKHDPPrrc . I said a choice and not a responsibility, because with choice comes freedom but with responsibility comes obligation and force. Whether or when this choice becomes a responsibility, I do not know its mechanism at the present.

M agreed with me long ago, when I was a teenage, thinking the life was not but a pointless and fake show. She added; so we better put our best act on while we are on stage.

Now I have a choice to give my life a meaning or be just an observant and a fatalistic person watching my life passing by in front of my eyes. One thing I can be certain about here and that is no one but me is authorized to write up the scenario which I would like to act on the sage of my life. A scenario which is suitable to the potential I have and could be and better to be up to the best of the act I can be capable of.

----------------------------------------------

Art is developing a language through which one could give a meaning to her life in a stylish way, leaving stylish invisible lines of movement behind on the canvas of the memory of life.

- I am developing my own style of leaving invisible lines of physical and mental movements behind on the canvas of life. That is developing my own fonts in Persian calligraphy and also innovative drawing.
- I am translating the IL of poetic thoughts of 3 Persian poetess who have left the marks of the invisible lines of thoughts behind, using language, into visible lines of visual art, in form of photomontage, calligraphy and drawing.

--------------------------------------------------

The existence which I am a part of has the potential of whatever takes place in it. If there is something which the existence cannot bear, it simply cannot happen. Hence the existence of intelligent human proves that the existence has the potential of evolving intelligence within. Whether this existence has the potential of developing a collective intelligence is not as easy. However we can say that our intelligence as human can only be activated if we are put in one another company. In fact observing the feral children suggest that human intelligence could remain in its animal level if it is not provoked by other human intelligence. On the other hand the human develops such institutions which systematically provoke and evolve human intelligence; e.g. language, university etc.

“I bear witness, O my God, that Thou hast created me to know...” –Baha’u’llah

Nothingness: Once upon a timeless time there was nothing but nothingness and nothing existed but nothingness. That nothingness was called space or phenomenon (A).

Creation of Phenomenon (B): In no time after, phenomenon (B) came to existence. Phenomenon (B) had no dimensions, but yet it had to push the edges of nothingness inwards to create some space for its dimension-less body in order to pronounce its being. At this point of no-time (B) could not move or even turn around itself, because there was nothing there to move towards or away from, and could not even turn around itself due to not having any dimensions itself. (B), therefore, had no choice but remaining stationary within the space (A) and movement could not yet be realised.

Creation of Identity; Ubuntu (I am because you are)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPDI_ScFRbw :

Then phenomenon (C) was born, also with no dimensions. Birth of (C) was good news for (B), because (B) could, then, position itself against (C) and measure up its distance from it within the space (A). That way (B) established some identity for itself.

Creation of Place: Having identity, provided (B) with a sense of belonging and placement/position within the space (A). The placement which is an essential criterion for movements was then provided.

Creation of Movement: Then (B) could change its position within the space against phenomenon (C). However, this movement could have only been performed in a straight line, because there was nothing in space which could have been used as an anchor point for (B)’s movement towards (C).

Performance of the Line: (B)’s movement was a performance, and this performance could be called the performance of the line. This line was only an invisible trace which was left behind by (B) as it was changing its position/placement against (C). The identity of this invisible line was defined by the distance between (B) and (C) only and it had no other dimension but a single length.

The Concept of the Canvas of Memory: The trace of the performance of this invisible line could have been memorised by the book of no-time-history or “the canvas of memory” or it could have been registered/memorised in form of a hard copy by the means of some form of technology; for example pen and paper.

Creation of phenomenon (D): Then phenomenon (D) was born also without any dimensions. That was yet another good news for phenomenon (B), because not only (B) could then move towards or away from (C) in a straight line, it was also given the chance of moving in a zigzag or curved manner, using phenomenon (D) as an anchor point. Hence, as result of the creation of phenomenon (D) another layer of identity was established for phenomenon (B) within the space. These zigzag or curved invisible lines, however, could only be register on a flat surface, because these three phenomena (B), (C) and (D), could be only positioned on a flat surface, no matter how they were arranged or rearranged.

Creation of phenomenon (E): As result of the birth of yet another phenomenon; (E) another layer of identity was provided to phenomenon (B). This time phenomenon (B) not only could have moved in zigzag or curved form on a flat surface, it could also move freely across the space in three dimensions; leaving an invisible global path behind, using phenomenon (E) as its second anchor point.

The Concept of Time: I can only understand the concept of time when two phenomena change their positions/move against a third one, having different speed of action. In other words I could only understand time within the context of relativity of speed of two moving phenomena, at present understanding of mine.

The Concept of Events: Having different speeds makes the concepts of events understood to me; that is when, due to having a faster speed, one phenomenon reaches a target point before another.

The Concept of Motivation: what makes phenomenon (B) move or change position brings the concept of motivation to my mind. Whether phenomenon (B) is motivated externally or internally, I do not have any comprehension for, at my present level of understanding, and is not relevant to this practice as researched at this point of time.

The gravity/Law of Attraction: I am not including the concept of gravity/law of attraction between the phenomena in this situation as yet.

Conclusion: the concepts of nothingness, somethingness, identity, attraction, motivation, place, movement, the line, time, memory and events appear inter-linked to me. Something is born within nothingness, establishes its identity once another phenomenon is born there. The first born phenomenon is motivated/attracted to the second phenomenon and its movement/changing placement towards that becomes a performance/event. The distance from a second phenomenon provides the first phenomenon with its first layer of identity which is related to the concept of place. The performance of the movements across the place registeres its paths on the canvas of memory in form of some invisible lines. The performance of the invisible lines is only regulated by time once at least a third phenomenon is present and two of them are motivated to perform movement towards a third one, but with different speeds.

Making: As explained before to my understanding the lines are all invisible traces of the movements of at least one phenomenon as oppose to another, which are registered on the canvas of the memory of time. To make these invisible lines visible, we need to employ some form of technology which helps us to register the trace of these visible lines on some form of hardcopy.

Here I employ the technology of photography in order to make the invisible lines of the movements/performance of the phenomenon of the light visible and registere on the canvas of the memory of the camera. The light is produced by glowsticks/chemical candles and the movement is motivated by my hands in space of my room. Then I take the taken photographs into computer and stylise them using IT technology; Photoshop software. I shall then demonstrate the result in printed form, on weblogs and in form of video clips on You-Tube and so on.

The Line is Born - 5th February 2012

Stylised Photography of Movement of three spotlights in space (C) Parvaneh Farid

Once upon a time there was a dote without any dimension called: (B)

And there was nothing called: (A)

Nothingness (A) must have shrunk its edges so something could find space within it. Hence we could say nothingness (A) existed before something (B) comes to existence, and if nothingness (A) did not provide space or did not give away something (B) would not have any room to come to be. Therefore we can say that nothingness (A) existed before something (B).

Nothingness must have been everywhere, apart from where something established its territory. Something which is everywhere cannot have dimension, hence something (B) within a space which has no dimension cannot have any identity or dimension itself. Therefore we can say phenomenon (B) did not have any identities.

Movements –something; phenomenon (B) could not possibly move because there was nothing which it could change its position or move against it. Phenomenon (B) could be floating within the space and yet remains stationary. Because there was no up or down, right or left towards which it could have moved.

Therefore the phenomenon (B) was stationary until something else; phenomenon (C) was born, which also had no dimension.

Now phenomenon (B) could change position or move against phenomenon (C). The trace of this movement could be called: the Line. This movement however, could be only happen in a straight line. Because (C) had no dimensions at all, (B) could only distance itself from it or get closer to it in a straight line. (B) could not move towards left nor right of (C), simply because (C) did not have any dimension, and nothing else existed there apart from them two.

Because (B) had no dimension, the line / trace of this movement, therefore, could only obtain one dimension. This single dimension could be the only identification (B) and (C) have at this point. As from that minute which the second phenomenon was born, the essence of the African mystic (UBUNTO = I am because you are) seems to begin to prove itself right.

Then the phenomenon (D) was born, and phenomenon (B) could now move begins two other phenomena, this time in a straight line or zigzag manner. Simply becomes phenomenon (D) could make left or right meaningful to a phenomenon B against phenomenon C.

After the birth of a phenomenon (E) moving up and down became meaningful to phenomenon (B), hence (B) could move against phenomenon C, D and E in a spiral form.

The future topics of my understanding are:

Time

Place

Speed

Memory
